Greetings, my name is Jenny Lung and I'm the Executive Director of Hillmount Childcare Centre, and it's my pleasure to welcome you to our new website. I was reflecting recently with our Board of Directors that I am soon approaching my 27th anniversary with Hillmount, and my learning has never stopped.

With the challenges faced with COVID-19, we had to implement many new policies and procedures to safeguard our staff and children, and work closely with the provincial and city authorities to keep abreast of constantly evolving policies.

We will try to use this new forum to better promulgate Childcare related news to the parents, while remaining focussed on delivering a curriculum designed to make Hillmount a place for play and grow.

Hillmount Child Care is a not-for-profit community-based child care centre located in Hillmount Public School.  Members of the child care are all parents/guardians of children in the community. The Centre is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors who are elected annually at the Centre’s Annual General Meeting.  All positions are unpaid. 

We are licensed by the Ministry of Education and operates within the regulations of the Child Care and Early Years Act. 2014 (CCEYA). All employees at the Centre are child-care professionals and meet the requirements of the Child Care and Early Years Act.  We are proud of the diversity of our staff. Their knowledge, experience, skills and commitment to provide the best possible care for your children.

The Centre is open from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with the exception of Statutory Holidays and scheduled closures. 

Our program statement is consistent with the Minister’s policy statement on programming and pedagogy issued under subsection 55 (3) of the Act and will be reviewed at least annually and describes the goals that guide our program.  Our program supports families by providing quality childcare, which is co-ordinated and consistent with classroom programs for Preschool, Kindergarten and School Age children.

We will plan and create a comfortable, positive learning environment that is an important and significant part of the child’s daily life. It will contain experiences in which each child’s learning and development will be supported.  It focuses on helping children to become capable, secure individuals both emotionally and socially. 

During the year, you will be receiving monthly newsletters and/or calendars that will be emailed to the address you provide. If you wish you can request a paper copy. The program newsletter will have information about the program and upcoming needs and events.  The administrative newsletter focuses on news from the office and reminders about policies and procedures.

Hillmount Childcare has been approved for the CWELCC program
